Mercedes-AMG has just unveiled the entry-level of its new sporty convertible, the SL43, which inaugurates a whole new technology.
While the prices for this replacement for the AMG GT were unveiled a few days ago (from €190,750 for the SL 63 version), today we discover the small SL43 with a 4-cylinder engine. This engine already equips a good part of the AMG range, but for the occasion it welcomes a new system straight from the Formula 1 team Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team. The turbocharger is in fact now equipped with a very small electric motor, a first on a production vehicle, which greatly increases performance. In a few words, the system begins to drive the shaft of the turbocharger before the flow of exhaust gases takes over as usual. This results in increased responsiveness and wider power availability across the entire rev range.
Aesthetically speaking, only a few details can put the chip in the ear. In addition to the disappearance of the acronyms “V8 Biturbo”, we can notice the front and rear skirts redesigned slightly. But it is especially on the side of the exhaust pipes that the difference will be the most noticeable. These now become round, rather than square. And because of this, she gets all my favors!
Unfortunately the prices and the arrival in concession of this new Mercedes SL43 are not yet known.
