After the reinterpretation of the Ferrari F8 Tributo that Mansory presented a year ago -which he renamed the F8XX-, the controversial German tuners are now returning by doing the same with the Ferrari F8 Spider, the sunroof variant of the Italian supercar.
As standard, the F8 Spider is not only imposing, but one of the most elegant prancing horses of recent times. But how could it be otherwise, with the hallmark of the Munich people, this Ferrari F8 Spider is far from being able to be defined as elegant.
Oh, if "Il Commendatore" raised his head...
Ostentatious and exaggerated to the extreme, this new F8XX is the nightmare of the most purist fans of the Maranello marque: inside and out it overdoses on carbon and is dressed in 'British Racing Green' (a traditional shade of British racing cars) with a satin finish and contrasting yellow.
Under the hood, a few changes have also been made.
This isn't the first time Mansory has used an exclusive F8 Spider as the basis for his designs, nor was he the first trainer to do so.
But unlike other examples like Novitec's "Soft Kit" or "obscure object of desire", which sought to highlight the silhouette and stylized features of the Italian supercar, this F8XX aims to be as transgressive as possible : the result skips (and can damage) the eye.
Since the German coach recently unveiled the exotic car on his networks, the controversy has been served. As always, Mansory has its fans and its detractors, almost in equal measure.
The truth is that it is not a more radical creation, since it retains many characteristics of the first F8XX, but unlike this one, in "Catania Green" with contrasting gold stripes, the scheme of the Spider is a little more striking and it has also been brought inside.
In addition, it incorporates a band with the Italian flag that goes from the nose to the back.
The additions of carbon fiber in the aerodynamic components, which bring additional aggressiveness to the whole, are everywhere: from the trim of the headlights and the front bumper to the side skirts, passing through the housings of mirrors, the diffuser or even the prominent "L". split spoiler, in a nod to the Ferrari FXX K.
The in-house forged wheels, model "YT.5 Air", which measure 21 inches at the front and 22 inches at the rear, complete the package.
The colors of the "tricolor" are also present in certain details of the passenger compartment, such as the selector and steering wheel paddles, the stitching on the doors and seats or even the mats. The inscription "F8XX" in several elements such as the doors, could not be missing.
Under the bonnet, the 3,902 cc twin-turbo V8 that powers the F8 Tributo, F8 Spider and 488 Pista and develops 720 bhp as standard at 8,000 rpm and delivers maximum torque of 770 Nm at 3,250 rpm has been pressed to boost power and torque to 868 hp and 960 Nm , respectively.
That extra boost was achieved "by tweaking the turbos and adding performance exhausts," according to Mansory. Without any modification, the set was already capable of signing the 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaching a maximum speed of 340 km/h.
At the moment Mansory has not revealed the price of the F8XX Spider, but as usual from the German tuner it will not be cheap at all. The brand's most purist enthusiasts will appreciate that this car is as expensive as it is exclusive, and that there won't be many of these units.
