As every year in F1, the teams see some changes in their line up, their staff, their engine, etc. If 2021 offered us two new brands with the arrival in F1 of Aston Martin and Alpine, and 2020 the arrival of AlphaTauri, the 2022 F1 teams remain stable on this side. In addition in 2021, the Alpine team was able to score its first victory under its new colors during the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2021, won by Ocon.
Note that the unofficial departure of Honda as an engine manufacturer leaves Red Bull to develop its own engine (with Honda staff and infrastructure). Thus, Red Bull Powertrains powers the main team and the AlphaTauri satellite. For the rest, some notable changes with the transfer of Otmar Szafnauer and sponsor BWT from Aston Martin to Alpine. Also, Haas broke away from its Russian title sponsor following the conflict in Ukraine.
The 2022 F1 teams are also visually different from their predecessors, due to the new 2022 regulations which have profoundly changed the F1 concept. In this sense, a new era begins. This start to the season also offers us an enticing battle between Ferrari (Leclerc) and Red Bull (Verstappen), while Mercedes is more behind despite a very innovative concept...
After seeing the calendar for the 2022 season and the statistics of the drivers making up the grid, we end our 2022 F1 Guide by reviewing the teams.
