A UNIQUE MODEL OF PORSCHE 911 TARGA AUCTIONED BY SOTHEBY'S, AND THE BIDDING IS EXPECTED TO RISE VERY QUICKLY!

Sotheby's, in partnership with Porsche Design, has announced the auction of an exceptional model of Porsche 911 Targa.

This year is very special for the German design studio Porsche Studio . Founded in 1972 by designer Ferdinand Alexandre Porsche, grandson of Porsche founder Ferdinand Porsche, it is celebrating its 50th anniversary! Confusions are possible between Porsche Studio and Porsche. But they are not the same companies. Nevertheless, links do exist. Ferdinand Alexandre Porsche is indeed known for having designed the original Porsche 911 , in 1972.

Thus, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the design studio, Porsche Classic has restored a 1972 Porsche 911 S 2.4 TargaThe first objective was to organize a special exhibition of this model and one of the designer's most famous watches, the Chronograph I. But there was no question of storing the vehicle in a garage afterwards! It will be auctioned by Sotheby's in New York between November 29 and December 14.

Sotheby's is auctioning a Porsche 911 Targa in collaboration with Porsche Classic

It is not, however, quite a Porsche 911 Targa from 1972, but a completely new and unique model from Porsche. The restoration teams didn't just restore a 911 Targa. Porsche Classic actually tried to recreate this older model in a more modern versionThe idea was also to bring this model as close as possible to Ferdinand Alexandre Porsche's Chronograph I watch. It thus borrows its colors.

And the result is breathtaking! "Our vision was to give our new special model 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition a historic look ," says Ulrike Lutz , Director of Porsche Classic. “The Sonderwunsch program gave us the opportunity to implement this idea by pairing unique vehicles. The year of manufacture was the only specific requirement (…). Designers and members of the restoration team were then tasked with transferring the specifications from the new car to the classic.

The Porsche 911 Targa will be auctioned for at least $275,000

“We deliberately took a different approach for this project. We have created a unique vehicle that combines tradition and modernity, and which bears the signature of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche” , then explains Uwe Makrutzki, Director of Porsche Classic Factory Restoration . According to Porsche Classic, the model was built on the basis of an old 911 T 2.4 Targa from 1972 in poor condition. His teams then improved both the engine and the chassis and reviewed the interior of the vehicle.

We must not dream either, the price at which this Porsche 911 Targa will start will be far from low. The Sotheby's site already displays a range between $275,000 and $375,000 . Since this is an auction, the final price could be much higher. But to find out, we will have to wait until mid-December!
