BYD Song L: The New Chinese All-Electric Crossover

BYD, one of China's leading car manufacturers, unveils its latest all-electric crossover model: the BYD Song L. Initially presented in "concept" form at the Shanghai Motor Show in April, this electric vehicle will soon be available for sale. , scheduled for this fall.

An All-Electric Rechargeable Crossover based on the Song Plus Platform

The Song L is the successor to the Song Plus electric SUV in Europe, renamed Song U. However, the most similar all-electric crossover to the Chinese Seal version remains the Song L, as it shares the same technical and electrical platform. The latter is based on a Cell-to-Body (CTB) construction integrating the lithium-ion batteries directly into the structure. These batteries, LFP type in Blade format typical of the Chinese group BYD, promise reliable performance to power the vehicle's electric motor.

Being the cousin of the Denza N7, the Song L should share quite similar dimensions, with a length of 4.86m, a width of 1.94m and a height of 1.60m. It is also expected to offer comparable performance thanks to its electric motors. The Denza N7 currently offers 230 kW propulsion or 390 kW integral versions, with a 91 kWh battery, allowing an advertised range of between 630 and 702 km in the CLTC cycle. Likewise, the Song L is expected to come with the same configuration, offering ranges of around 500-560 km when it hits the European market, ideal for daily commutes.
