If one is sufficiently fortunate, it is always possible to dream of acquiring convertible and light sports cars equipped with a powerful engine

Si l'on est suffisamment fortuné, il est toujours envisageable de rêver d'acquérir des voitures de sport décapotables et légères équipées d'un moteur puissant

Having helped design some of the greatest Formula 1 cars of all time, including the famous McLaren F1 , Gordon Murray could have enjoyed his rental income for the rest of his life. However, he chose to start his own automotive business, Gordon Murray Automotive .

Although the company was founded in 2017, it took several years for the public to admire the first car produced by this company: the remarkable GMA T.050 , equipped with a naturally aspirated V12 engine and design solutions reminiscent of the famous McLaren F1 .

Subsequently, the GMA T.33 was released, featuring a powerful V12 that now purrs in the open, as this version no longer has a roof.

A while ago, McLaren F1 creator Gordon Murray started his own car brand to make his own cars. Its first model, the Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) T.50 , was considered the modern version of the McLaren F1 and far exceeded expectations due to its naturally aspirated V12 engine from Cosworth , its aerodynamic characteristics similar to those of an F1 and its three-seater layout.

However, the T.50 had a very high cost of almost 3 million euros, which prompted Murray to create a more affordable supercar, the GMA T.33 , which was launched in early 2022 with a price of 1.5 million euros. Although its design is more conventional than that of the T.50, the T.33 remains spectacular and is equipped with a naturally aspirated 617 horsepower V12 engine. This creation is part of an era where electrification is booming.

The mechanic who possesses these qualities does not wish to be appreciated with filters, which is why Gordon Murray Automotive decided to launch the convertible version of the GMA T.33 , the GMA T.33 Spider . This car follows the same recipe as the coupé, using a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V12 engine signed Cosworth, which generates 617 horsepower at 10,250 rpm and a torque of 451 Nm at 6,750 rpm. The engine is placed in a central position and can turn up to 11,100 rpm. To satisfy purists, the engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive.

By using ultra-light materials and opting for compact dimensions (4.40 meters long), the T.33 Spider weighs only 1,108 kg, thus offering a power-to-weight ratio of 557 CV per ton, even exceeding the lightness of the Alpine A110 R (which weighs 1,157 kg).

To maintain the purity and balance of the vehicle, Gordon Murray opted for a fixed carbon fiber roof section that connects the rear engine cover to the central air intake that cools it. These panels can be easily removed and stored in the front trunk for the full convertible driving experience.

The rear window can also be lowered with a button for an even more immersive driving experience.

Gordon Murray has fitted two side openings of 90 liters each on the T.33 for the transport of luggage. On top of that, the front trunk, which can be used when the roof is removed, adds 115 liters of storage capacity, bringing the total volume to 295 litres.

Production of the GMA T.33 Spider will be limited to 100 examples, all handcrafted at Gordon Murray Automotive's headquarters in Windlesham , UK. The possibilities for customization are vast, which is justified by the price of each car: customers will have to pay 1.89 million pounds, or more than 2.15 million euros at the current exchange rate.
