If you want an electric car suitable for the whole family but prefer to avoid SUVs, this one is offered at 25,000 euros and offers ample storage space

Many families opt for an SUV because of their need for space, but it's important to consider other options even when looking for an electric family car.

The MG5 Electric perfectly illustrates this, with a spacious 4.60 meter long body and a distinct SUV design, which is rare in its class. This model is available in two levels of power and autonomy.

Up to 400 kilometers of range

Under the tutelage of SAIC , the Chinese giant, MG has regained its fame in the market in just a few months, with an ever-expanding range of electric cars currently offering the best value for money. Among these models, the MG4 Electric and the MG ZS EV are particularly noteworthy, but their big brother, the MG5 Electric , should not be underestimated.

Measuring 4.60 meters long and able to accommodate five people, this family vehicle has a 479-litre boot which can be extended to 1,367 liters by folding the rear seats. It is available in two finishes - Comfort and Luxury - and offers two power and range options.

The version with reduced autonomy is equipped with a 177 horsepower electric motor and a 50.3 kWh battery, offering a driving range of 320 kilometers for the Comfort version and 310 kilometers for the Luxury version . On the other hand, a version with a 156 horsepower motor and a larger 61.1 kWh battery is also available. This version offers a greater range of up to 400 kilometers for the Comfort finish and up to 380 kilometers for the Luxury finish .

Both versions can be charged to a maximum power of 87 kW DC and 11 kW AC. As for the equipment, the base trim includes 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, keyless access, air conditioning, a 7-inch central touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto or yet adaptive cruise control, among other features. The Luxe trim adds 17-inch wheels, a 360-degree camera, and leatherette seats.

The initial price of the electric MG5 is 35,490 euros . However, MG offers a discount of 1,210 euros for each commercial campaign and withdraws an additional 2,000 euros for financing. Adding government aid, which amounts to 7,000 euros, the final cost is 25,280 euros, but this does not include registration or pre-delivery costs.

In addition, the MG5 benefits from the standard warranty of 7 years or 150,000 km offered by the brand. Currently, all versions also include a one-year all-risk insurance, provided that the purchase of the car is financed.
