Kia is offering a free software update allowing owners of electric Soul, Niro and EV6 to benefit from a very practical feature: a smart route planner for charging. This new feature comes at a good time, especially during the summer period, when many drivers embark on long journeys.
Thanks to this update, the navigation system of Kia electric vehicles can now detect available charging stations along the planned route and automatically add them to the list of waypoints. The GPS algorithm takes into account several parameters such as the state of charge of the battery, the information on the charging points in real time, the electrical consumption adapted according to the topography, the weather and the driving mode .
Even in the event of network problems, the route planner information remains available. The system is able to switch to integrated mode and continues to provide suitable charging suggestions. Additionally, Kia prioritizes charging stations that are used the most, making it easier for drivers to find reliable charging points.
Data on favorite charging stations is synchronized between the vehicle's navigation system and the mobile application. So drivers can easily access their preferences, either from the car's dashboard or via the app on their smartphone.
An interesting feature of the new Niro EV, EV6 and EV9 is the ability to couple the route planner to a battery pre-conditioning function. This feature optimizes charging time by preparing the battery before arriving at a charging station.
Free software update including smart route planner is available for Niro, EV6 and e-Soul models. Vehicles from model year 2022 (from May 2021) can benefit from the remote update. For older models, customers can manually install the update after downloading it.
