The models that make up the current MG range have nothing to do with the popular sports cars that the British firm marketed in the early 2000s. Among them , the MG F, later known as the MG TF, stood out.
This small two-seater filled the guns of the perfect English roadster and almost two decades after its disappearance it will be reincarnated in the MG Cyberster, another British convertible which is about to see the light of day.

A few months ago MG returned to the Spanish market after several years of disappearance. He did it within the framework of the Chinese group SAIC Motor and with a catalog of models completely different from that of his previous stage in Spain, betting very strongly on SUVs and family cars, but also on electrification.
Fortunately, it seems that the latter is not incompatible with the heritage of the brand and MG intends to demonstrate it with the MG Cyberster, a 100% electric two-seater convertible called to succeed the MG TF.
The first time we talked about the MG Cyberster was over two years ago . We learned about it through a few teasers and had to wait another year to see a full-size prototype . Since then, we don't know much more about it, except that its final version would see the light of day in 2024 .
But it looks like it won't take that long to find out as the latest video posted by MG on his YouTube channel pretty much reveals it completely.
At the moment, the images only give clues about its final design, but the truth is that they show many details of its exterior , including part of the interior.
We were clear that the production MG Cyberster will be two-seater, convertible and fully electric. The MG video confirms, at least, the first two issues. Also that the production version will be very similar to the prototype which was exhibited at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2021.
Unlike the MG TF, it will have an electric hardtop, rather than the classic soft top. But other convertibles like the Mazda MX-5 RF have already shown that the hardtop is perfectly compatible with the rest of the trappings of classic British sports cars.

It also looks like the doors won't open in the traditional way, but in a scissor-like fashion, while the LED rear lights will draw an intricate light signature like that of the concept car, inspired by the flag of the United Kingdom. For its part, the headlights will be LED and its oval shape recalls the optics of the MG TF.
Considering the fact that the model from the video has been almost completely discovered, it is logical to think that the variant of the series will not take long to be officially presented.
Most likely, its coming out will take place before the end of the year and it could be hitting the streets throughout 2023 , shortening the timelines that MG predicted when presenting the prototype.

MG will not be long in providing definitive details on its 100% electric mechanics. The data he provided when he presented the concept seemed difficult to achieve: 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds and a range of 800 km .
MG's goal is to complicate the life of the long-awaited Tesla Roadster which promises to complete the 0 to 100 km/h in 2 seconds and travel 1,000 km on a charge.
Both the figures for one and the other seem utopian, but MG is likely to surprise everyone with the Cyberster and Tesla will do the same with the Roadster. After all, the American firm is taking its time to develop its convertible.
What is clear is that the MG TF will finally have an heir , so followers of the British company are in luck. It remains to be seen whether the Cyberster's approach is compatible with the DNA of the British roadster.
