Nissan has chosen Madrid as the venue for the presentation of its new Formula E project , which coincides with the arrival of the Gen3 of these 100% electric racing cars. We have been there and we will tell you the keys to the Japanese brand's commitment to this competition.
I think it's fair to start by remembering that Nissan has been racing for 85 years and they want that commitment to motorsport to continue into the future through Formula E. This competition, they say, perfectly fulfills their commitment to a fully electrified society.
Before starting to talk about the car and the innovations it incorporates, it is important to know the drivers who will be behind the wheel. Nissan has opted for two French drivers with different profiles and levels of experience.
Norman Nato arrives in the team with youth as the main asset, but having at the same time been vice-champion in Super Formula 2022. The Frenchman Nato will compete in the car n ° 17.
On the other, there is Sacha Fenestraz , a driver who already has experience and even some Formula E victories under his belt. The Franco-Argentinian Fenestraz will drive car n°23.
Both drivers will come into contact with the new Gen3 on the track during the official pre-season tests which will take place at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia from December 13 to 16 .
Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director of Nissan Formula E Team, commented: “ Next season is a big moment for the championship, with the introduction of the new Gen3s. But it's also essential for us at Nissan, with the team operating under its new name. as we take full ownership of our Formula E operations. Everyone at Nissan is very excited about this new start, very motivated to take on this new challenge and very eager to get started .
The brand has taken over the e.DANS team with which it has been in competition until now, and now the overall management of the project depends on Nissan. For this reason, they wanted the car to have a new look which, from my point of view, is very successful.
The Nissan Gen3 sports a decoration inspired by cherry blossoms , but at the same time it also recovers the red and white colors that have marked the latest Nissan competition weapons.
The team's choice to incorporate Japan's national flower into its Season 9 livery is not only a nod to the team's Japanese DNA, but also symbolizes and celebrates a new beginning. This will be Nissan's fifth year in Formula E , but the first with a 100% clean team.
Formula E season 9 will be marked by the arrival of a new generation of cars, the third since the launch of the championship created by Alejandro Agag 9 years ago.
The new single-seaters are still all identical in design. Marked by very angular shapes, seen from the front the upper part of the body has a triangular shape.
The sides are completely enclosed, and the rear fender assembly is marked by a very low and narrow plane flanked on the sides by two diagonal sections.
New cars are more powerful. They deliver 350KW of power and this allows them to reach speeds of 320 km/h and regenerate 600KWh of energy. Compared to the Gen1, the Gen3 are 75% more powerful, the top speed has increased by 95 km/h and they generate six times more.
Formula E Season 9 unfolds with a record schedule of 17 races scheduled, including first visits to India, South Africa and Brazil, before ending the year at the already classic London E-Prix.
