No crisis for collectors: this Porsche 911 Turbo S was sold for 1.20 million euros

Pas de crise pour les collectionneurs - cette Porsche 911 Turbo S a été adjugée 1,20 million d'euros

The crisis is sweeping through the neighborhoods and the collector's fever has not dropped one bit in recent years. Proof of this is this  Porsche 911 Turbo S  which has just been  sold  for no less than  1.26 million dollars  (about 1.20 million euros at the current exchange rate).

It falls short of the $3.6 million that  the Porsche 911 "Sally Special" fetched at auction But it becomes one of the  nine-elevens  that has garnered the most numbers in recent times, with, for example,  the 911 Turbo from "Two Rebel Policemen" Although in his case we are not talking about a movie car  or a famous actor involved .

One of the most exclusive Turbos, and much more expensive than when new

Porsche 911 Turbo S 3.6 (1994) set

The truth is that this Porsche 911 Turbo S  auctioned by Bring A Trailer  is not just any. It is  one of the 17 with the "Package" specification  that was born, born between 1993 and 1994 on the third generation of the sports car from Stuttgart: the 964.

And it is that these less than 20 units displayed exclusive ingredients, making it an object of desire for lovers of the German brand and collectors in general. So, from time to time, we show up at an auction and madness breaks out.

In 2017, RM Sotheby's  had precisely one of these  911 Turbo S 3.6 packs  as the protagonist of a European event. And although it did not reach the million euros, it was quite close: the winning bid took it for 901,600 euros. Five years later, another of these 964 Turbos has largely broken the barrier.

The  911 Turbo S 3.6 pack  was framed among the 1,500  911  Turbos of this generation fitted with a  3.6-litre engine  compared to the first 964 Turbos fitted with a 3.3-litre.

But also, only 17 units received the 'X88' engine, being more powerful: instead of 350 HP, they reached 385 HP thanks to the incorporation of a more generous turbo and intercooler, a new camshaft or a more efficient exhaust system, among others. A heart combined with a five-speed manual gearbox and advantages such as a self-locking rear differential or improved "Big Red" brakes.

And another special feature of the Package is that instead of the “Flachbau” style front they had the classic 911. More? Yes, in the menu there is a specific rear wing or even air intakes and wing differentials.

In addition, this particular unit mounts 18-inch Speedline wheels and remarkable equipment for the time such as an electric sunroof, leather seats with electric adjustment or even a six-disc CD changer.

The odometer of this Porsche 911 Turbo S 3.6 Package showed  just 8,725 miles (about 14,000 km)  at the time of listing, less than the aforementioned one auctioned five years ago, which was about 23,000 miles . Therefore, perhaps, it was sold for a much higher figure.

The truth is that in the photos it looks like it just left the factory when it is almost 30 years old. Its owners have taken great care to pamper it and develop it. This 2022 has received the latest news, with new seals for the engine or even a new airbag and the door speakers have also been revised. In 2021 the ABS was checked and the tires were changed.

In short, for this auction he was dressed to the nines despite his black suit. Anyway, its price has gone up in value to the impossible, since in the mid-90s, new, it was around $130,000.
