Volvo once again presents an affordable option for its latest model, succeeding the retired Volvo C30. This time around, they're offering an all-electric urban SUV, measuring 4.23 meters in length, rather than a compact model.

The Volvo EX30 is the most economical model of the Swedish brand, positioning itself below the Volvo XC40. However, it stands out by offering a more powerful engine than all the other models in the range.

Geely, the Chinese giant, has decided to fully exploit the SEA-E platform. In addition to being used for the Smart #1 and the Zeekr X, this platform has been used to develop the new Volvo EX30, a fully electric B-SUV which is now the gateway to the Swedish brand.

The Volvo EX30 is already available for sale, with a starting price of 36,770 euros for its 272 horsepower version and a standard range of 344 km. It is powerful enough to reach 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. However, there is an even more powerful version of the Volvo EX30: the Twin Motor Performance.

This version is equipped with two electric motors, one for each axle, which provide a combined maximum power of 428 horsepower. Its starting price is 48,265 euros, making it the car with the best price-power ratio on the market.

The car also offers the best acceleration/price ratio: it reaches a speed of 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, which makes it faster than the manual Porsche 911 GT3 (3.9 seconds).

In the EX30 range, its price is only 2,662 euros higher than the 272 hp EX30 Single Motor Extended Range, with which it shares a battery. This model is available with the same Plus finish from 45,603 euros.

As for the Smart #1 Brabus, it has some remarkable similarities with the Volvo EX30 beyond the Volvo brand. Both cars use the same platform, motors and battery, which means the more powerful version of the Smart #1 Brabus, called Brabus, also has 428 horsepower. However, despite these similarities, there are some notable differences between the two vehicles.

First of all, in terms of autonomy, the Volvo claims up to 460 km, while the Smart #1 Brabus is content with 400 km. Additionally, the Smart takes 3.9 seconds to hit 100 km/h from a standstill, while the Volvo does it in 3.6 seconds, making it slightly faster.

As for the price, the Smart #1 Brabus is also more expensive than the Volvo. Its top-of-the-range version starts at 49,600 euros, which is 1,335 euros more than the Volvo. However, it should be noted that the Smart offers some standard equipment that is not included in the Volvo at the same price, such as matrix LED headlights and panoramic roof. Despite this price difference, it is worth pointing out that the price of the Smart #1 Brabus remains very attractive for a car with 428 horsepower.
