Ram presents an electrified version of its flagship pickup, the Ram 1500, accompanied by an update and a new range of engines. The most notable new product is the Ramcharger, the very first electric pickup with a range extender on the American market.

Ram 1500 electrification

After revealing a concept at CES in January 2023, Ram officially introduced the electric version of its flagship pickup a few weeks later. The Ram 1500 REV is not a new model, but an electrification of the existing vehicle, marked by a more conventional design and the abandonment of the innovations of the concept car. The Ram 1500 REV's batteries range from 168 kWh to 229 kWh.

Model update

In conjunction with the launch of the Ram REV, the American brand brings minor updates to the model which constitutes a significant part of the Stellantis group's revenues in North America. These updates include cosmetic and equipment tweaks, as well as the replacement of the HEMI V8 engines with the direct-injection Turbo V6 dubbed "Hurricane".

Ramcharger: A return to history

The name to remember in this 2024 edition is that of the Ramcharger, a reference to a model offered from 1974 to 1993. Initially a closed version of the pick-up, the Ramcharger cleverly becomes an electric version with a range extender.

“Unlimited” autonomy and technical characteristics

Ram announces an approved range of 690 miles (1104 km) for the Ramcharger, with the possibility of recharging the battery via a Combo CCS socket up to 145 kW. The vehicle retains the strengths of the electric Ram, including a towing capacity of 6.3 tonnes, a payload of 1.2 tonnes, and V2L / V2V / V2H (Vehicle to Load / Vehicle to Vehicle / Vehicle to Home) functionalities. ).
