Someone spent almost 700,000 euros to get the unique and indomitable TVR Cerbera Speed 12

The creator of the world's only road-legal TVR Cerbera Speed 12 described it as wild, untamed and even dangerous . These characteristics led to the cancellation of its production. However, this car has just sold dramatically .

Despite her bestial and revered nature, as well as her exclusivity, the price she was sold for seems surprisingly low. Last weekend, Silverstone Auctions put it up for auction and its new owner will have to master its more than 800 horsepower to drive this vehicle which weighs 1,000 kg.

During the 1940s a company called Trevcar Motors was founded, which later became known as TVR . Specializing in the manufacture of light two-seater hypercars, TVR has mainly distinguished itself in the field of motor racing. Among the many models produced by this British company, led by engineer and pilot Peter Wheeler , one of the most remarkable was the internal project named "7/12".

Wheeler's goal was to design a car that could outperform the famous McLaren F1 GTR, a tall order. It was therefore a competition model intended to reach the heights. After several years of development, the first prototype was unveiled at the 1996 Birmingham Motor Show , arousing great enthusiasm among enthusiasts.

The TVR Speed 12 , which later evolved into the TVR Cerbera Speed 12 for the GT2 class, is a racing car. However, the brand had also developed road versions and accepted reservations for these models. Unfortunately, these road versions were never produced .

The project was canceled due to security concerns . After nearly finalizing the TVR Cerbera Speed 12 prototypes for road use, founder Mr. Wheeler personally took one of these cars home. However, when he returned the next day, he called the car ungovernable and decided to cancel the project. The people who had reserved these cars were fully reimbursed. The unit currently up for auction is precisely this one.

Despite its impressive design, aerodynamic lines and interior focused on pure driving, the TVR Cerbera Speed 12 is powered by a 7.7-liter V12 engine . Over the years, improvements have been made to this motorized beast, and its brutal heart has finally managed to develop 850 horsepower . In addition, it has been lightened and adjusted, reaching a weight of 1,100 kg . After changing owners several times, she finally arrived in the hands of her current new owner.

The TVR Cerbera Speed 12 was destined to arouse interest during the auction organized by Silverstone Auctions , and its sale price of almost 700,000 euros could only confirm that. The winning bid was £601,500, or around €691,491 at the current exchange rate.

We are talking about a real rare pearl on wheels, perhaps one of the most extraordinary ever created, which makes the amount paid almost insignificant. However, it is crucial that the new owner takes good care of this vehicle if they want to enjoy it safely.
