Tesla lowers prices: Model 3 at 33,000 euros and Model Y cheaper than a VW ID.4

The price competition for electric cars in the market continues and Tesla was the first to react a few months ago by reducing the cost of its entry-level models, the Model 3 and Model Y. In response, Ford also adjusted the prices of its Mach-E .

Now, Tesla has slashed prices yet again by offering discounts on the Model 3 and Model Y. As a result, the cheapest Tesla models are considerably cheaper, with the Model 3 available in France for less than 40,000 euros. By including the aid, the price could even be reduced to less than 34,000 euros.

There was a second price decrease this year

After several months of rising prices for everything from bread to cars, Tesla's decision last January to lower the prices of all versions of the Model 3 and Model Y took everyone by surprise.

This price drop was general across all models and not specific to particular discounts, and came just after the brand closed its best sales year ever.

By lowering prices, Tesla wanted to give a new boost to sales and outperform its competitors, which allowed the Tesla Model Y to become the best-selling electric car in France in the first quarter of this year.

A few months after already lowering the prices of the Model 3 and the Model Y, Tesla has reduced the prices again. At the end of 2022, the basic version of the Model 3 with rear-wheel drive, 282 hp and a range of 491 km was sold in France from 51,990 euros.

Since January of this year, its starting price has increased to 46,200 euros and it is now available from 39,990 euros. If all possible aids are applied, the price can be reduced to 32,990 euros.

Despite this, the base Tesla Model 3 is almost 3,000 euros cheaper than the base Volkswagen ID.3 which is priced from 42,600 euros with rear-wheel drive, 204 hp and a range of 424 km. In addition, the Tesla is not far from the Peugeot e-2008 , an urban SUV with front-wheel drive, 136 hp and a range of 337 km, which is offered from 38,320 euros, i.e. 1,670 euros cheaper than the Model 3.

The other variants of the Tesla Model 3 were also offered at lower prices. The long-range Model 3 , with all-wheel drive, a 351 HP engine and a range of 602 km, is now available at a starting price of 49,990 euros, a reduction from the previous price of 52,400 euros. Similarly, the Tesla Model 3 Performance with all-wheel drive, a 462 hp engine and a range of 547 km is offered at a reduced price of 53,990 euros, against 59,990 euros previously.

All versions of the Tesla Model Y, the best-selling electric car in France, also benefited from this price reduction. Previously, the basic version was available from 48,200 euros, but now it is offered from 45,990 euros. The Grande Autonomie version is now available from 53,400 euros, while the Model Y Performance model can be purchased from 59,990 euros.
