NVIDIA , the microchip giant that has achieved a multi-billion dollar market valuation through the growth of Artificial Intelligence, has partnered with MediaTek to revolutionize vehicle software and make it increasingly intelligent . Their goal is to propel car infotainment systems to new heights within about three years.

Mobile chips jump in the car

The car of the future integrates a multitude of elements such as screens, radars, sensors, and artificial intelligence systems. These components provide driver monitoring and environmental mapping, while providing entertainment features such as games.

In order to achieve this vision, automakers must increasingly collaborate with big tech companies and chipmakers. That's why brands like Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar-Land Rover have partnered with NVIDIA.

A concrete example of this collaboration is the partnership between MediaTek, known for its chips present in many Android smartphones, and NVIDIA. MediaTek plans to integrate an NVIDIA graphics processing unit chipset along with NVIDIA software into systems-on-chips supplied to automakers for infotainment displays.

MediaTek systems using NVIDIA software will be compatible with automated driving technologies based on their own technology, such as Volvo, which uses cameras to monitor the driver and display the environment on vehicle screens.

Furthermore, they assure that the product will be accessible at all levels, from entry-level to high-end. Manufacture of the chips for vehicles - although the brands involved have not yet been mentioned - is expected to begin in 2026, with the first releases expected a year later.
