At this point, the story of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is already a case study in how a product that was practically designed as a rolling tool ended up becoming an object of desire, along with its beastly AMG G variant. 63 as a spearhead. .
But for those who still think that the latter is not enough (which exists, especially among "celebrities" ), Coach Brabus now presents his new interpretation of this model. Its name is ' G900 Superblack ' and, for the more than 400,000 euros it costs, it promises exactly what its label says: more than 900 horsepower and the predominance of black.
To bring the Brabus G900 Superblack to life, Bottrop's signature begins with the "heart". Taking AMG's 4.0 biturbo V8 as a starting point , the cylinder diameter is increased to 84 mm. The operation continues with new forged pistons and connecting rods , sitting on a crankshaft that extends their stroke to 100 mm. With these modifications, the displacement increases to 4.5 liters .
The suction also changes completely, replacing the two original turbos with others featuring larger superchargers and reinforced shafts, which allows the boost pressure to rise up to 1.4 bar . Likewise, two wastegates are in charge of relieving any possible overpressure, emitting an eloquent sound (at least Brabus assures it) when releasing the accelerator.
In short, the creature, called '900 Rocket' , adds to all these modifications a total of 327 HP, which together with the 585 of the standard propeller gives 912 HP . The torque figure is not out of place either: 1,250 Nm which is limited to 1,050 Nm to protect the transmission. That is, if the "standard" G 63 AMG is already a nuclear bomb , Brabus managed to detonate it almost twice as strong.
With this cavalry at the disposal of the right foot, it is possible to move the more than 2.5 tons of the whole assembly very quickly . Might as well achieve a 0 to 100 in just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 280 km/h .
The body receives an aggressive kit, known as ' Widestar ' and which increases the width of the G 63 by 10 centimeters thanks to much more prominent wheel arches. Likewise, it also includes several carbon fiber components such as the bonnet air intake, the grille frame or the Led auxiliary lights on the roof.
As for the chassis, Brabus replaces the factory suspension with a system adjustable in hardness and height from the drive mode selector. The shock absorbers , in aluminum and of the 'coilover' type, make it possible to reduce the ground clearance by up to 4.5 cm to take advantage of the grip of the sports tires which can be fitted with 24-inch wheels.
The interior of the Brabus G900 Superblack replicates the barrel of the exterior, with absolutely everything in black . The leather upholstery adopts a hull pattern, which extends to the door trim. For its part, carbon fiber also finds its place in the usual elements (such as the steering wheel or the dashboard trim) and in other less common ones, such as the roof handles.
Ultra-powerful engines and luxurious interiors are two of the constants of Brabus preparations , and it was clear that the G900 Superblack was not going to be an exception. What is also not lacking in custom is its astronomical price: having the fastest and most exclusive G-Class costs 430,218 euros , practically twice as much as a "normal" G 63 AMG.
