The Citroën C4 X arrives to complicate life at Renault Arkana with the same approach and a lower price

At the beginning of the summer, Citroën presented another of its models with Spanish DNA, the Citroën C4 X manufactured at the Stellantis de Villaverde plant in Madrid. Basically, it is a longer variant with a three-volume body of the conventional Citroën C4.

While the Citroën C4 is 4.36 meters long, the Citroën C4 X grows 24 cm and reaches 4.60 meters . Instead of having five doors, it has four and is more reminiscent of a sedan than a compact SUV, although it still has crossover traits, such as the raised height and the plastic protections of the lower body and wheel arches. .

The increase in size translates into more trunk. That of the standard C4 has a volume of 380 liters and that of the C4 X has a capacity of 510 litres . The space inside is identical because both models have the same wheelbase. And the same goes for the interior design.

As for the range of engines, the C4 X is available with the three-cylinder 1.2 PureTech petrol with two power levels: 100 and 130 hp, the first with a six-speed manual gearbox and the second with an EAT8 automatic transmission.

In diesel, the 130 hp 1.5 BlueHDi associated with an EAT8 automatic transmission is offered. And you can also opt for the fully electric variant ë-C4X with 136 hp and a range of 360 km thanks to its 50 kWh capacity battery.

There are three trim levels: Feel, Feel Pack and Shine . The first is the basic one and is only available with the 100 hp PureTech engine, the Feel Pack is common to all engines, except for the 100 hp PureTech, and the Shine is reserved for the 130 hp and the electric one.

If we talk about prices, the basic Citroën C4 X, with the Feel finish and the 100 hp 1.2 PureTech petrol engine with manual gearbox, is for sale from 22,785 euros . The five-door Citroën C4 with the same engine and Live Pack completion is available from 21,085 euros.

The 130 hp Citroën C4 X PureTech petrol with automatic transmission and the Feel Pack finish starts at 26,545 euros, while with the 130 hp BlueHDi diesel engine, the automatic transmission and the same finish it has a base price of 28,035 euros . The top of the Shine range starts at 28,535 euros with the 130 hp PureTech engine and at 30,075 euros with the 130 hp BlueHDi.

The electric Citroën ë-C4 X is for sale from 35,635 euros with the Feel finish, from 36,745 euros with the Feel Pack intermediate finish and from 38,085 euros in the case of the Shine.

By size and format, the Renault Arkana is the direct rival of the Citroën C4 X, although the one with the diamond is only available with conventional hybrid mechanics, so it only has the DGT ECO label, while the C4 X has the ZERO in its electric variant. As for the price, the basic Renault Arkana is for sale from 28,400 euros with a 140 hp micro-hybrid engine and automatic transmission.
