Cadillac continues its commitment to electrifying its lineup by unveiling the all-new Cadillac Optiq, a highly anticipated electric SUV. This model marks a crucial step for GM's premium brand, which is looking to expand its offering into more affordable price segments. Originally planned for the Chinese market, the Cadillac Optiq could soon appear on European shores, offering a new electric option to consumers.

Major Evolutions in the Cadillac Range

With the launch of the Cadillac Optiq, the Cadillac range electrification strategy takes on a new dimension. In addition to iconic models such as the Lyriq, Celestiq and Escalade iQ, the brand plans to introduce higher volume models from 2024.

Features Shared with Its Cousins Chevrolet and Buick

The Cadillac Optiq shares many similarities with the Chevrolet Equinox and the Buick Electra E4. Its dimensions are very close to those of its cousins, with a length of 4822 mm, a width of 1912 mm, a height of 1644 mm and a wheelbase of 2954 mm. These common features allow for a common platform, while offering distinct styles specific to each brand.

Performance that Meets Expectations

Although details on the batteries are not yet available, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology mentions motors offering an output of 150 kW / 204 hp or 180 kW / 245 hp. So it's reasonable to expect the Cadillac Optiq will benefit from similar battery packs to the Electra E5, with capacities ranging from 68kWh for the most powerful model to 80kWh for the 150kW model. The expected range for the Optiq is between 540 and 650 km according to the CLTC cycle, offering practical mobility without compromise.

A Progressive Launch in the World

Marketing of the Optiq will begin in China by the end of the year. Subsequently, its production will extend to Mexico in 2024, to meet demand in the North American and European market. Indeed, General Motors seems ready to fully integrate the Cadillac Optiq in its return to the Old Continent, thus offering a premium electric driving experience to European consumers.

With the Cadillac Optiq, Cadillac marks another step in its commitment to electrification, while delivering an attractive and capable electric SUV that promises to appeal to a wide audience in China, North America and Europe.
