Even the tire supplier in Formula 1 is not set in stone, as demonstrated by the possibility that Pirelli 's reign in Formula 1 is coming to an end. Indeed, the FIA has decided to open competition for the supply of Formula 1 tires from 2025, which means that the current brand could lose its place.

Bridgestone , the Japanese tire manufacturer, is set to compete with Pirelli for the contract. The latter will no longer be valid after 2024, and the applications will be examined by the FIA to decide on the next supplier of Formula 1 tires.

From 2025, Bridgestone will compete to replace Pirelli as tire supplier for Formula 1

Pirelli's contract with Formula 1 ends in 2024 and the renewal process will be more complex than in the past. The FIA has already issued a tender to be the exclusive tire supplier, and it looks like Bridgestone, a second company, is set to compete with Pirelli.

Bridgestone, which was the sole supplier of Pirelli front tires from 2007 to 2010, is considering returning to the premier class. However, competition between manufacturers is excluded, as this would entail costs. Thus, there will be a single tire supplier, either Pirelli or Bridgestone.

The application period will end in May, after which Formula 1 will consider the proposals. In addition to the technical requirements of each manufacturer, the proposed costs will also be taken into account, which could benefit Formula 1.

Pirelli is looking to maintain its presence in Formula 1 and hopes to overtake Goodyear as the tire manufacturer with the most victories in this discipline. This will only be possible if Pirelli renews its contract, despite being absent from competition for several years. Their target is 283 wins, surpassing Goodyear 's 368 wins .

The FIA will offer a new three-season contract from 2025, with an option for a fourth season in 2028. Although Pirelli's relationship with Formula 1 has been marred by controversy, their experience gives them an advantage to win the contract .

In addition, the selected tire manufacturer will also have to supply the tires for Formula 2 and Formula 3. Currently Pirelli spends around 40 million euros per year to supply the tires for Formula 1, we will see if Bridgestone is ready to outbid . The decision will be made this summer.
