When Ford introduced us to the new generation of the Mustang , they made it very clear to us that this Mustang would be on the tracks in many disciplines, from the World Endurance Championship to regional classes. The first of these track-exclusive Mustangs is the variant that will race in Australian Supercars, a championship known worldwide for its high level of competition and for its V8-powered cars that put on a great show on every race date.
This Mustang has already been built to Gen3 specifications for this championship. Under the hood Ford specifies that it will carry a competition engine based on the Coyote V8 of the street Mustang, but increased to 5.4 liters . No team or manufacturer reveals the full specs of their cars, but these new cars are estimated to produce at least 650bhp .
This category aims to ensure that the cars that compete remain as close to the production models, but only in the aesthetic section, because in everything else they have significant changes in every area you can think of.
It features a full racing aero kit , 18-inch wheels wrapped in Dunlop Sport Max racing tires and a massive rear spoiler.
The Ford Mustang for Australian supercars will make its debut in the 2023 season and there are at least 6 teams adopting it in their pursuit of the championship.
