The Kia EV6 GT is a sporty electric SUV 12,000 euros cheaper than the Ford Mustang Mach-E

The sporty variant of the Kia EV6 electric crossover , the GT, is considered the most powerful and daring. Although orders were opened last summer, the model has already reached dealerships with a slightly higher price than initially announced, exceeding 70,000 euros.

The Kia EV6 GT is notable for being the fastest Kia ever, capable of 0-100 km/h in less than 4.0 seconds, despite weighing over two tonnes. In addition, it is much more powerful than its brothers, with a 585 HP engine, while the model with the highest delivery has an engine fixed at 325 HP so far.

The Kia EV6 GT and the Ford Mustang Mach-E have similar characteristics and are in direct competition, but the former offers superior performance without improving its range. Although the reservation price of the EV6 GT has increased since its debut, it is still around 12,200 euros cheaper than the Mustang Mach-E which is sold at 86,262 euros without a discount.

The sportiest Kia EV6 SUV has similar dimensions to its counterparts, measuring almost 4.7 meters long, 1.89 meters wide and 1.45 meters high, with a wheelbase of around 3 meters. Although a bit smaller than the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, the Kia EV6's wheelbase is very similar, making them roughly equivalent in terms of interior space.

In addition, the trunk of this variant is more spacious with a capacity of 480 liters compared to the 402 liters of the Mach-E GT. However, when the rear seats are folded down, the Oval's cargo capacity is even greater, and its front trunk is also larger.

This sporty version offers 100 more horsepower than the Mustang Mach-E GT, but with a 66 km less range. Mechanics play a major role in this sporty variant, with the aim of offering the best driving sensations in the range thanks to features such as Drift mode or the electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD). Like the Mustang Mach-E GT, it has two motors, one for each axis, which together produce 585 hp and 740 Nm of torque, with all-wheel drive.

It surpasses its North American rival by almost 100 horsepower, with an output of 587 HP, but the Mustang Mach-AND wins the battle for maximum torque with 860 Nm. However, the Korean car is heavier by 148 kg, which affects the performance in favor of the American car: the Korean accelerates in 3.5 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 260 km/h, while the Mustang Mach-AND takes 4.4 seconds to reach 200 km/h.

Although we are talking about two SUVs focused on dynamics and performance, we are also talking about two electric off-road vehicles. Therefore, autonomy is important. Both are also labeled " Long Range " in their respective range, with the largest capacity battery: 77.4 kWh for the EV6 GT and 98.7 kWh for the Mach-E GT.

This means that, although they are quite similar in terms of consumption, the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT is clearly superior in terms of range between charges: it homologates 490 km against the 424 km of the EV6 GT. However, it should be pointed out that the EV6 GT benefits, for example, from bidirectional V2L (Vehicle to Load) charging.

Ford Mustang Mach-E GT

The Kia EV6 GT offers a charging system that can reach powers of up to 240 kW, while the Mach-E GT cannot go beyond 150 kW. With a quick swipe, the Korean model can recharge its battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes, while Ford's model takes 45 minutes to complete the same operation. Using a standard 11 kW socket, the EV6 GT requires 7 hours and 20 minutes to recharge , while it will take no less than 32 hours to do so from a household socket.

In short, although these two models are very similar, the purchase choice may be influenced by the search for greater autonomy or better features. It will depend on the personal preferences of each buyer, taking into account the design and the price.

The most expensive Kia EV6, but also the most equipped

The Kia EV6 GT represents the high-end version of this electric crossover, the cheapest model of which is offered from 52,800 euros. With extremely generous standard equipment, it is not surprising that the price of this car is close to 75,000 euros.

The EV6 GT version is equipped with many standard features, including 21-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights, keyless entry and start, drivable panoramic sunroof, tinted windows, dual-zone climate control, steering wheel and heated seats (in all rows), as well as a power trunk lid with hands-free opening. In addition, it is available with aluminum pedals or sports seats covered in leather and Alcantara, with integrated headrests.

When it comes to technology, the EV6 GT also comes with plenty of standard benefits. In particular, it has two screens on a single curved panoramic slab, which combine the instrumentation and the multimedia screen of 12.3 inches each. It is also equipped with a head-up display with augmented reality, a 360º camera, a Tesla-style key remote parking system, wireless charging for mobile devices, as well as a Meridian premium sound system.
