The new BMW 3 Series shows off its square new look in these leaked images

In principle,  BMW  should present the restyling of the  BMW 3 Series shortly , the current generation of which began to be marketed at the end of 2018. There is no known date for its presentation, but some  images have leaked in China  of this which appears to be the  new BMW 3 Series  , let us already see the new face of the BMW sedan.

The aesthetic changes are not many, but they are noticeable. And so far that was something unusual at BMW. The German brand has, or had, the habit of updating its models with a   very discreet restyling .

However, starting with the new  BMW 2 Series Active Tourer  and the new  BMW X7 , BMW no longer hesitates to more clearly differentiate the post-restyling  model from  the pre  - restyling model  . This is also the case with this BMW 3 Series.

The most visible changes are centered on the front of the car  . The new headlights no longer have this shape and a bump in the center. Now they form a uniform block and with a new light signature, in which the LEDs form a kind of C with a long upper band instead of the double inner bands of the current model.

The grille, although it retains contained dimensions, has a different design. On this occasion, its octagonal shape is more pronounced, or more obvious, in any case.

It also sports satin-finish metallic contours on certain models and has two types of grilles, double vertical slats and small horizontal lines with a 3D effect, depending on the version.

That's not the only change up front. The bumper now features a large lower air intake whose black frame extends upwards to house the license plate holder. The side air intakes, in the shape of a cubic comma, have also been redesigned.

At the rear, the changes are as visually significant as at the front. While the taillights look virtually identical to the current model, the bumpers are not.

This has an imposing pseudo diffuser, with the two exhaust outlets on each side, the black frame of which extends towards the ends of the bumper and goes up towards the pilots.

Of the interior, however, no images were leaked. Still, due to its restyling, the 3 Series could adopt the digital dashboard and  large touchscreen from  the  BMW i4  , which would also lead to a reduction in the number of physical buttons.

The evolution of the range of engines is also to be determined. The four-cylinder petrol engines (320i and 330i) could adopt a  micro- hybridization  similar to the diesel engines of the current range and which already equip other models in the range such as the new  BMW X4 .

In principle, the update of the BMW 3 Series will become official in the coming months with a view to  marketing in the second half of the year.
