The new Honda Accord has everything to be the next king of sedans. Europe prefers SUVs

Sedans are in the doldrums, but the same is not true in all parts of the world. In fact, we have only killed them in Europe, or at least we have mortally wounded them because we prefer to buy SUVs, so much so that icons such as the Ford Mondeo or the Opel Insignia have just disappeared from our market.

Many years ago the Honda Accord suffered the same fate . Seen in hindsight, it seems that Honda had a crystal ball, however, the Japanese brand has not forgotten its sedan, which is still more alive than ever across the pond thanks to the premiere of its eleventh generation.

Nearly 50 years of Honda Accord

The Honda Civic is one of the models currently being sold with the most history behind it. The Japanese compact arrived in 1972 and its eleventh generation has just been put on sale in Europe. Well, it is not the only model that Honda continues to market and can boast of several decades of history.

The Honda Accord appeared in 1976 and almost half a century later, the Japanese brand has just released its eleventh generation. Unfortunately, its ninth installment was the last we saw in Europe, but outside our continent it is still a very popular sedan, as it was around here in the first decade of the 2000s.

And it is that, despite the fact that the SUV fever has reached the entire planet, some markets are still betting on sedans and they do so because they are in demand.

In Europe its presence has become testimonial , especially if we talk about generalist models, that's why we will stay without knowing the new Honda Accord.

The Japanese saloon has just been completely renewed and follows the same path marked by its little brothers: prominence of hybridization and a design with more muscle that copies the main lines of the Civic, especially at the front.

Depending on the trim level, it has a sportier or more sober appearance; It will be offered in six trims (LX, EX, Sport, EX-L, Sport-L and Touring). The first two are reserved for the less powerful engine and the other four for the more capable Accord.

Inside it is also reminiscent of the compact, although thanks to its 4.97-meter-long body it promises more space, not in vain is it 42 cm longer than the Civic.

Of course, it has been completely digitized and the central screen allows you to manage the latest Honda infotainment system, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as OTA (over the air) updates. In the Touring finish, Google is integrated as standard.

As for the mechanics, it will be available with two engines , a 1.5 turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline that develops 195 hp and a 207 hp conventional hybrid, both with automatic transmission.
