The Nissan Qashqai e-Power Hybrid keeps its promise by offering an impressive range of 1000 km on a single tank

Thanks to its unique hybrid technology, Nissan's Qashqai e-Power has a theoretical range of over 1,000 km. This feat demonstrates the feasibility of this innovative concept.

For a year, the Qashqai has been available in its hybrid e-Power version. Its mode of operation is unique: the wheels are powered exclusively by an electric motor, while the heat engine, a 1.5-litre 158 hp 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, acts solely as a generator.

This optimized operation guarantees reduced consumption. Nissan announces an approved fuel consumption of 5.2 liters per 100 km in the WLTP combined cycle. Thanks to a 55-litre tank, the manufacturer can proudly present a range of 1058 km with a full tank.

The manufacturer wanted to demonstrate the truth of this claim, which led it to organize a full-scale test in Sardinia, in which seven people from different places in Europe took part. Incredibly, all participants managed to drive 1000 km without refueling. In fact, the average fuel consumption for all the teams was just 4.9 litres, despite a route that included mountainous and coastal areas.

Nissan has trained its teams to teach eco-driving practices and appropriate uses of car features, such as e-Pedal (single pedal) and Mode B (increased regenerative braking).

In doing so, the company underlines the interest of the hybrid as an alternative to diesel for drivers traveling long distances. Indeed, from 2021, Nissan has decided not to offer a diesel engine on the third generation of the Qashqai, preferring instead to rely on e-Power technology.
