The 2023 Nissan Z joins the Japanese brand's configurator and confirms what many still did not believe: it has a knockdown price. Plus, it costs less than half that of any of its main rivals.
The downside is that Nissan's two-seater is only on sale in the US , at least for now. The good thing is, it's a perfect swan song for sports cars before the combustion engine dies.

The latest addition to the Nissan Z family took only a year to arrive at dealerships. In August 2021 , the Japanese brand presented the 2023 Nissan Z , a sports car made by and for purists that takes over from the Nissan 370Z and sets the bar high with its 405 hp twin-turbo V6 engine.
Unfortunately, we knew from the start that selling the Z in Europe was not in Nissan's plans at this time. In the United States, however, they will be able to enjoy the heir to the original Datsun 240Z, although the first units will not be delivered until the end of this year.
At the time of its presentation, Nissan was talking about an adjusted price with the aim of offering an affordable sports two-seater, at least compared to its competitors. Finally, the 2023 Nissan Z has arrived in the United States with a starting price of $39,990.

If we convert at the current exchange rate, this is equivalent to 38,700 euros . This price gives access to the basic version of the Nissan Z and the price is identical if you choose the six-speed manual transmission or the nine-speed automatic transmission.
Either way, this 4.38-meter-long two-seater coupe uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine . This aluminum block called VR30DDTT develops 405 HP at 6,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 475 Nm delivered continuously between 1,600 and 5,200 rpm.
How could it be otherwise in a Z, all the power goes to the rear wheels. What hasn't been revealed yet are its benefits, but it should do 0-100 km/h in around 4.5 seconds and top 250 km/h.
In terms of finishes, the range is made up of Sport and Performance. The second has a base price of $49,990 ($10,000 more expensive) and adds a firmer suspension, mechanical limited-slip differential, Launch Control, larger brakes and 19-inch RAYS forged wheels.

The Z Performance also has a more aggressive design and special equipment, such as the BOSE audio system and sportier seats.
Taking advantage of the launch, Nissan also put the special Proto Spec series on sale , which costs $52,990, is yellow, has gold wheels and only 240 units will be produced.
Regardless of the finish chosen, the 2023 Nissan Z has come to shake up the sports two-seater segment because it is much cheaper than its rivals.
If we talk about its direct competitors, the Toyota GR Supra with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and 258 hp is on sale in the United States from $ 43,540.

But the version that comes closest to the Z is the 340-hp 3.0-liter GR Supra, which is 60 hp less and is available from $52,500. In Spain, the most powerful Supra starts at 68,550 euros.
Another competitor to the 2023 Nissan Z is the Porsche 718 Cayman . Its starting price in the United States is $63,400 for the base model with 300 hp and four cylinders.
To find a version more comparable to the Z in the 718 Cayman range, you have to go for the GTS 4.0 with a six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine and 400 hp. In this case, its base price in the United States is $90,300, more than double that of the Z with 5 hp less. In France, the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 is on sale from 99,804 euros.
We just have to wait for the Nissan Z 2023 to arrive on our continent at some point. We don't know if that will ever happen, but until then Nissan USA's configurator is here to whet your appetite and design the Z of your dreams. The good thing is that there are reasons why the Nissan Z ends up being sold in Europe.
