The OCU issues a warning about a potential fire hazard in several vehicles from brands such as Citroën, DS, Peugeot and Opel

According to the European Union's rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products, up to six models from the Stellantis group are currently subject to a mandatory recall due to a potential fire risk. The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) relayed this information.

It has been found that if water eventually enters the engine compartment, it could lead to corrosion in the battery holder. This corrosion could later damage the battery, posing a fire hazard.

Several models of the group, in particular Citroën, DS, Peugeot and Opel, are affected by a breakdown. The affected models are:

• Citroën C5 Aircross , manufactured between January 20, 2020 and January 10, 2023.
• DS7 Crossback , manufactured between February 19, 2019 and January 22, 2022.
• Peugeot 3008 , manufactured between March 12, 2019 and December 12, 2022.
• Peugeot 508 , manufactured between July 10, 2019 and January 25, 2023.
• Opel Grandland X , manufactured between July 2, 2019 and January 27, 2023.

According to the Stellantis group, approximately 16,000 cars are affected by this recall. Owners of the affected models have been notified, as is standard procedure in such cases.

The repair, which will include additional protection against corrosion, will be carried out free of charge in the workshops of the official networks of the brands. It will take about 30 minutes to make the change.

Although the recall notice is sent by mail, it is also recommended that you contact the brand's customer service to check if your vehicle is affected, especially if you have purchased a used car from the market.
