The short history of Pagani is full of models of all kinds. Beyond the series models that it manufactures and manufactures, Pagani has specialized in the manufacture of very small series models and even unique pieces due to the high degree of customization it grants. It was true for the Zonda and it is also true for the Huayra .
The Pagani Huayra came on the market in 2011, replacing the Zonda. And in true Pagani style, after so long the brand continues to manufacture special units of its current model, the latest being this Pagani Huayra Codalunga .
The Huayra Codalunga (long tail, in Italian) was born, as on many occasions at this level of the range, from the wishes of the brand's customers. In this case, Horacio was invited by two Pagani collectors in 2018 to produce a long tail version of the Pagani Huayra Coupe.
They wanted a model with the elegance of the Pagani and at the same time with a racing touch reminiscent of the 'Longtails' of the 24 Hours of Le Mans , such as the McLaren F1 GTR Long Tail or the Porsche 917 LH (car with which in 1971, Vic Elford was the first to cross the 240 km/h average mark during the gala race).

The Codalunga was developed by Pagani's Grandi Complicazioni special projects division (whose name is a nod to the world of fine watchmaking) and in two years of development, what was to be a two-piece limited model is became a limited series of five copies. .

The base of the car is the standard Huayra, but the Codalunga has a new front end, a new dashboard and a completely redesigned and longer rear (obviously). Specifically, it is 36 cm longer . It doesn't seem like much, but in the end the rear cover has an area of 3.7 m², they explain at Pagani.

Beneath that massive hood, AMG's handcrafted 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 is the Huayra's hallmark. It develops here 840 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 5,600 rpm. The V12 also features new titanium and ceramic-coated exhausts that together weigh just 4.4kg.

These are exposed to view since at the rear, the bodywork lacks grilles or panels that could hide them. In total, the car weighs only 1,280 kg .
In the Codalunga, as in all of Huyara, aerodynamic efficiency has been very careful. Not surprisingly, it was one of the first street models to feature active aerodynamics , with four flaps that move independently to provide cornering support or maximize speed. In this case, the elongated rear helps achieve greater speed, as in the Le Mans cars that used this design.

The Pagani Huayra Codalunga is part of the 7 million euros plus tax. In any case, the price is not something particularly relevant. Because yes, indeed, the five units are already sold. The opposite would have been something very strange.
