The price of the new BMW M2 is already known, and it is close to that of the M3, which is concerning

The second generation of the BMW M2 arrived in Spain a few months after its presentation. It comes with manual or automatic transmission, rear-wheel drive and the same 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine as the BMW M3 and M4, but with an output of 460 hp.

As the entry model into the BMW M world, the new BMW M2 is now positioned above models such as the BMW M135i xDrive and M240i Coupé.

The car has rear-wheel drive and has not been electrified

The new BMW M2 is undeniably one of the most anticipated vehicles of 2023 and it has finally arrived. BMW noticed that there was a demand for a smaller model than the BMW M3, and the M2 with the internal code F87 quickly became the true successor to the BMW M3 of the first generations due to its size, power and its price.

The formula was so successful that the BMW M2 continued to win fans with the Competition and CS versions. The latter, with 450 horsepower and total exclusivity, made it possible to say goodbye to the first generation in style, selling 60,000 units worldwide.

Now the new generation arrives in Spain under the internal code G87. BMW seeks to reproduce the recipe of the first M2, but with improvements. Measuring 4.58 meters long and weighing 1,700 kg (split 50:50) in its manual version, its 460 hp twin-turbo six-cylinder engine is enough to propel the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.

By opting for the M Driver package, the top speed of the BMW M2 reaches 285 km/h. Moreover, with the eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds.

As for the price, the new BMW M2 starts at 91,250 euros, a difference of 21,700 euros compared to its little brother, the 374 hp BMW M240i Coupé. In xDrive version with all-wheel drive, the price difference is 18,200 euros.

The BMW M3 Competition is the top model from BMW M and can be bought from 117,850 euros, equipped with the same engine as the BMW M2 but pushed up to 510 hp. That means the M2 is cheaper than its $26,600 big brother. However, the price can increase quickly depending on the added options.

The M Driver package costs 3,130 euros while the M Race Track package, which includes carbon fiber M bucket seats, matching interior trim and a roof also in carbon, as well as the M Driver package, costs 16,596 euros.

In comparison, the 2018 BMW M2 Competition was on sale from 74,700 euros with 410 hp, while the BMW M2 CS, which only arrived in 75 copies in Spain in 2020, had a starting price of €103,900.
