Although the Peugeot 508 has an attractive design, it has not enjoyed great commercial success so far. The launch of the Peugeot 408 , which seems more popular, is also not going to help. Consequently, Peugeot must give a second chance to this hatchback, heir to a long line of cars at Peugeot.
To do this, the automaker is strengthening the visual identity of the 508 and improving its equipment to bring it closer to the premium segment. This strategy is reflected in the range and prices of the new Peugeot 508, which starts at 38,510 euros and reaches over 66,000 euros.
The range of cars is limited to three finishes, Allure, GT and PSE , whether it is a sedan or a wagon body. Although the PSE has low sales, it remains the crown jewel of the brand.
As far as performance is concerned, there are no significant technical changes, despite the upcoming arrival of the Euro 7 anti-pollution standard on July 1, 2025, which means that the petrol and diesel versions will only be in circulation. during two years.
The only new feature is the addition of a new 180hp PHEV plug-in hybrid version to the range, with a 12.4kWh battery shared by all PHEVs, which was previously exclusive to the 360hp PSE version.

Apart from its refined elegance and distinctly Peugeot aesthetic on the outside, the main innovation can be found inside the car. The center console has been redesigned to incorporate a small rocker selector for the automatic transmission (the only option available across the range), replacing the traditional gear lever. Also, the touchscreen is now standard and measures 10 inches, which is an increase from previous base versions which featured an 8-inch screen only.

It features a new infotainment system named i-Connect Advanced , which includes a smartphone-inspired interface. The latter is made up of shortcuts, a multi-window screen and an upper banner that constantly displays information such as temperature, time and notifications.
The navigation system as well as the voice assistant are included in the standard equipment. Front-row passengers get two USB-C ports, while second-row passengers have access to two USB-A ports. In addition, the car is equipped with a 10-speaker Focal audio system.

The standard vehicle is equipped with several features, including a night vision system, parking cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistant, lane departure warning with automatic lane correction, blind spots and controlled damping offering three modes of hardness.
Currently, the Peugeot 508 has few competitors outside the premium segment. The Mazda 6 , which is older, offers a slightly better finish and more powerful gasoline and diesel engines (165 hp and 194 hp), but it is significantly cheaper than the Peugeot (from 31,396 euros).
The Skoda Superb has an overall price similar to that of the Peugeot 508, except in the entry-level versions (from 41,055 euros), where the Peugeot is cheaper. However, the Superb offers greater roominess and a wider range of diesel and petrol engines.
Other alternatives include the soon-to-be-discontinued Volkswagen Passat and the more expensive Alfa Romeo Giulia (from 46,100 euros) but has more powerful engines and superior dynamics. However, there is no PHEV version available for these models.
The new Peugeot 508 is already available for sale, with the first deliveries scheduled for June.
