This new Chinese gasoline-powered SUV isn't just about being affordable, it's also aiming to compete with the Hyundai Tucson

The Omoda and Jaecco brands , which are owned by Chinese automaker Chery International , are entering. Omoda will be the first to arrive, officially next June, then in the rest of the country by the end of the year.

The star of their push to take over the market is the Omoda 5 compact SUV . In its launch version, it will be equipped with a 197 HP petrol engine, although fully electric variants should be available later.

The Omoda 5 is a compact SUV that combines striking design, increased functionality and advanced technology. Its main characteristics are based on two pillars: dimensions of 4.4 meters long, 1.83 meters wide and 1.59 meters high (comparable to those of a Hyundai Tucson ) as well as a T1X platform specially designed for offer a spacious cabin.

The exterior design language of this SUV, dubbed " Art in Motion " by the manufacturer, aims to harmoniously combine functionality and visually striking elements.

The manufacturer highlights in the equipment section that the SUV will be equipped with a full range of accessories, including advanced driver assistance systems such as lane departure warning and hold system. lane detection, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.

It is also equipped with an intelligent air conditioning system, a wireless charging function for mobile phones and is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The brand claims that the Omoda 5 is perfectly ready to conquer the market, where its main competition should come from Hyundai or Kia models . In the near future, other electric SUVs and crossovers are also expected to appear.

Currently, brand managers are hoping that the launch version of the Omoda 5, already released in other markets such as China or Mexico, will be available in all dealerships during the second half of the year, probably in November or December.

The starting price of the Omoda 5 in our country is not yet known, but it will be competitive. What is confirmed is that when it arrives, the Omoda 5 will come with a five-year or 150,000 kilometer warranty.
