The Porsche 718 Boxster and the Porsche 718 Cayman are launching a special version called the "Style Edition", which, as the name suggests, is characterized by a different design . In addition, this finish adds more technology and connectivity to the standard equipment of both models.
The order book for both models is now open and the first units will arrive to their owners before the end of the year for a price almost 10,000 euros higher than the entry models . We review its main features.
One of the most distinctive features of the new Porsche 718 Boxster and Porsche 718 Cayman Style Edition is that they have added "Rubystar Neo" color to their available body color palette. This is a modern interpretation of the "Rubystar" hue made popular on the legendary 964 generation Porsche 911 Carrera RS.
Beyond this striking body color, the Style Edition variants are distinguished by distinctive design cues such as 20-inch 718 Spyder wheels , black-finished tailpipes and silver "Porsche" lettering on the bumper. rear shocks.
Additionally, on the 718 Boxster Style Edition, embossed "Boxster" lettering above the side windows was added to the bonnet as a distinctive touch.
These special versions can also be chosen with a "contrast pack" (in white or black) which adds a touch of sportiness at no extra cost .
Both include decorative stripes on the trunk lid up front and decorative "Porsche" lettering on the side, as well as gloss black or white paint finishes for the rear wheels and model designations, respectively. .
In the passenger compartment, and matching the exterior, the Style Edition versions are distinguished by a more refined appearance and can be chosen with a specific pack.
It uses high-quality leather in black and includes details such as contrasting chalk stitching, illuminated stainless steel door sill panels or the Porsche crest on the seat headrests.
In the equipment section, the 718 Boxster and Cayman Style Edition are characterized by a somewhat more complete endowment compared to the standard models which includes elements such as BiXenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, parking assistant, camera backup, Apple CarPlay and cruise control.
In addition, they have exterior and interior mirrors with automatic dimming to avoid uncomfortable flashes, a heated and leather multifunction steering wheel, heated seats or "Plus" power steering.
On the mechanical side, the Style Edition models are no different from the access versions of the 718 Boxster and the 718 Cayman. The 2-litre 300 hp engine placed behind the seats is thus retained.
The turbocharged four-cylinder generates 380 Newton meters of torque and enables Style Edition models equipped with the standard six-speed manual transmission from zero to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. With the optional seven-speed PDK, the figure drops to 4.7 seconds. Both reach a maximum speed of 275 km/h.
These two special versions are probably among the last released by the brand for both models, at least as we know them.
And it is that Porsche has already confirmed that the next generation of the Porsche 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster will adopt an electric sports car platform designed specifically to mimic the character of current mid-engine combustion cars and which could serve as a basis future Audi and Lamborghini models.
Everything suggests that the 718 range is the third range of electric models offered by Porsche, since the intention of the Stuttgart brand is that these two models will be marketed in the middle of this decade , that is to say to here three or four years.
In addition to the Taycan, the arrival of the electric Macan is expected next year. And for the electrified models of the Porsche 911 and the Cayenne, there is still no official confirmed date.
In the meantime, the brand has announced that the order book is now open for the newcomers Porsche 718 Boxster Style Edition and Porsche 718 Cayman Style Edition. Here are their final prices in Spain:
