Versatile compact electric car from €20,000 with 7-year warranty

MG is gradually working to develop its range of cars with the aim of regaining its position on the European market and becoming more powerful than ever with the support of the Chinese giant SAIC . Currently, the MG 4 Electric is the star model of his collection.

This compact electric car has generated a lot of interest for several months, due in particular to its excellent value for money, its 7-year warranty (or 150,000 km) and its price much lower than that of its main competitors. . Thanks to these assets, it has become one of the most popular electric cars on the market.

Spacious and well equipped

Currently in France, the Dacia Spring is the cheapest electric car available. However, this small car is designed for 100% urban use, which is not suitable for many drivers. To meet this need, some are opting for larger and more expensive electric vehicles.

However, MG recently presented an interesting alternative with its electric compact, the MG 4 Electric . This car is not only less expensive than other cars in its class, it is also more affordable than lower-class electric vans, although it is better equipped, larger and more practical.

The MG 4 Electric is 4.29 meters long and can accommodate five people with a boot volume of 363 liters (or 350 liters in the top version). It is available in three trim levels: Standard, Comfort and Luxury.

The base variant has a motor producing 170 horsepower and comes with a 51 kWh battery, allowing it to travel up to 350 km before needing a recharge. The Comfort and Luxury models both have a 204 hp engine and a 64 kWh battery, giving them a range of up to 450 km.

The initial price of the MG 4 is 30,690 euros , but this does not include the charging cable or the registration and pre-delivery costs. However, thanks to the aid plan and discounts, its price is reduced to 20,480 euros . The Comfort model is available from 24,980 euros and the Luxury model from 26,980 euros , under the same conditions. All three models are equipped as standard.

The competitors of the MG 4 Electric

The Volkswagen ID.3 and Cupra Born belong to the same segment and are both available. The basic version of the Volkswagen has a 204 hp engine, a range of 426 km and is priced from 45,010 euros, while the basic Cupra Born uses the same 204 hp engine, offers a autonomy of up to 425 km and is available from 42,800 euros.

However, it should be noted that the prices mentioned do not take into account any discounts or aid from the Aid Plan. By comparison, the MG 4 is more than 12,000 euros cheaper than the Cupra Born and almost 15,000 euros cheaper than the Volkswagen, although this does not take into account the 7-year guarantee offered by the MG.
