You argue with your partner over cats, and your sentimental car ends up being scrapped for $400

You argue with your partner over cats, and your sentimental car ends up being scrapped for $400

After leaving the bar, John returned home and found that his prized 1972 Ford F-100 pickup was missing from outside his house. It was obvious that it had been stolen. This vehicle, fully restored, was in immaculate condition. What made the situation even more difficult to accept was that he had been passed down from his grandfather to his father before returning to him. His sentimental attachment to this vehicle far exceeded its monetary value.

However, the worst was yet to come. What was really devastating was finding out that his partner had sold the Ford F-100 to a junkyard for just a few hundred dollars.

"After returning from the bar, I realized that the van was not there. I questioned my girlfriend who explained to me what she had done. Immediately I collected my things, my chat, ended our relationship and I left. John told Newsweek . Now he's sued his ex-partner.

According to Newsweek, this viral story was originally posted on Reddit by user Polaritium as John . In a new post, John revealed the green Ford had been passed down from his grandfather to his father and was in "like new" condition. John clarified that he only used the pickup for work from time to time and that it was not his daily drive.

Sold to a junkyard for $400

According to John, he got into a fight with his girlfriend, who he shared his life with for two years, because she was neglecting her responsibilities to her cats. This caused a usual argument over the distribution of household chores, which she feels she hasn't done, but is usually resolved by discussion and getting the chores done.

On the contrary, John went to the bar , he explains. When he returned later, he found that the car, an F-100 , was missing, and he asked why. It was then that his girlfriend admitted to selling it to a nearby car junkyard for $400 , forging her signature to pose as the rightful owner of the vehicle.

John, feed the cats. And to dogs.

John filed a complaint and set out to find information about the sale of his car in the area. It seems his former girlfriend was not revealed to him who she sold him to. Luckily, one of his friends managed to pick it up, allowing them to get the vehicle back.

However, the F-100 was in much worse condition than when John had last seen it: its bodywork was damaged, rust had formed, and the brakes had failed. As a result, John's ex-partner risked being fined $5,000 and facing a civil suit brought by John. All because of a failure to feed the cats.

The story is undeniably curious, but we don't have all the versions of the facts. What we know comes mostly from John, and we don't know what his ex-wife would have to say about it. Chances are there are other things at play, which could explain why John's original Reddit post was taken down.

The starting point of the F-100 before its marketing also raises questions. It's amazing how low-quality the steel used in 1972 Fords is, so much so that rust forms in just two or three days . We don't know if it was the previous owner who had an accident with the car and sold it damaged, or if the damage happened after the sale. In the end, it is possible that the car was already damaged before the events.

What is clear to us is that it is important to regularly change the cat's litter box and to feed it . It's not a difficult task, and it saves our pick-up from ending up in the scrapyard . Or that our PS5 ends up on Wallapop .
