You can still buy this eco-label car with 120CV at pre-pandemic prices

Other utility vehicles, such as the Ford Fiesta, are also doomed due to the growing popularity of SUVs. The Kia Rio will suffer the same fate, leaving the Kia Stonic as the sole representative of the Korean brand in the B segment.

However, it's still possible to say goodbye to the Rio, and so far it remains an extremely attractive option. Not only is its price attractive, but its engines and equipment are also attractive, especially when considering a specific version: the Kia Rio 1.0 T-GDi MHEV of 120 CV with the Drive finish.

The 120 CV Kia Rio costs only 550 euros more than the 100 CV

The Kia Rio, which came on the market in 2017, is one of the oldest models. However, it remains current thanks to a recent update carried out two years ago. This update has made it possible to modernize its design, to integrate new state-of-the-art equipment and to add micro-hybrid engines.

With a length of 4.06 meters, the Kia Rio offers five seats and a trunk with a capacity of 325 liters. It is available with three petrol engines. The base engine is an 84 CV naturally aspirated 1.2, offered at a starting price of 16,450 euros. There is also a 1.0 T-GDi turbocharged three-cylinder engine, available with two power levels: 100 HP and 120 HP.

The most powerful model in the range is the one recommended. Unlike the other two models, it cannot be combined with the basic equipment called Concept, but it can be combined with the intermediate Drive finish, which already has very complete standard equipment.

With the 120 hp 1.0 T-GDi engine and six-speed manual gearbox, the Kia Rio starts at 21,023 euros, only 550 euros more than the 100 hp Rio 1.0 T-GDi with the same Drive and gearbox finish. six-speed manual.

Since this engine is coupled to a light hybridization system, the Korean car is labeled DGT ECO and has a fuel consumption of 5.2 l/100 km. In addition, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 190 km/h.

The Ford Fiesta, which is one of the competitors of the Kia Rio, can also be purchased new and is offered with a 125 hp 1.0 EcoBoost micro-hybrid petrol engine, combined with a manual transmission, from 24,772 euros. It also benefits from the DGT ECO label.

Another Kia Rio competitor is the Hyundai i20, which can be equipped with the same 120 hp 1.0 T-GDi micro-hybrid engine as the Rio. However, this option is only available with an automatic transmission and its starting price is 28,785 euros.
