The long-awaited SUV version of Toyota's compact model, the Toyota Corolla Cross, is finally available. You now have the possibility to reserve this car which offers two options when it is first launched on our market.

The Toyota Corolla Cross is the very first traditional compact SUV from the Japanese brand and is positioned between the B-SUV Yaris Cross and the RAV4. It benefits from the latest update of the Corolla's hybrid engine, carried out at the end of last year, offering power ranging from 140 HP to 196 HP.

Currently, it's only available in the top-end version of the range, which means there are plans to offer more affordable options in the future. As for the Corolla hatchback which is more or less equivalent, it has a higher price of 6,400 euros. If we compare this version with the family body, its price is 3,300 euros higher.

We are therefore talking about the most expensive variant of the Corolla among the four bodies now available. However, it remains cheaper than the Toyota RAV4, with a difference of around 9,000 euros for the same finish compared to its big brother.

The Toyota Corolla Cross has a size larger than the five-door Corolla, with a difference of about 10 cm. However, in terms of interior space, it offers the same roominess for its five seats. As for features, the trunk of the Corolla Cross is more spacious, offering up to 487 liters of capacity compared to the sedan's 361 liters.

In addition to the considerable aesthetic changes, another distinction lies in the higher position of the Corolla Cross, reminiscent of that of a quality SUV. It benefits from a ground clearance of 166 mm, higher than that of the Corolla hatchback but lower than that of the RAV4. Although this first version does not offer AWD-i all-wheel-drive variants, these models were announced when it was launched. It remains to be seen whether these variants will be available when the lineup is complete.

The Toyota Corolla Cross now offers a range of more powerful engines, up to 196 horsepower. These engines are the same as those available in the standard Corolla, but their power has been slightly increased. The cheapest model is equipped with a 1.8-liter hybrid engine, which combines a four-cylinder petrol engine with 98 horsepower and 142 Nm of torque with a 70 kW (95 horsepower) electric motor, for a total output of 140 horsepower. Its fuel consumption varies between 4.9 and 5.3 liters per 100 kilometers.

On the other hand, the top performing option comes with a 2.0 liter hybrid engine. It combines a four-cylinder engine with 152 horsepower and 190 Nm of torque with a more powerful 83 kW (113 horsepower) electric motor. The combined power of this model reaches 196 horsepower and its homologated consumption is between 5.0 and 5.3 liters per 100 kilometers.

In any case, it should be noted that these models are non-rechargeable hybrids, which allows them to obtain the ECO environmental label.

What equipment is included in the Toyota Corolla Cross? The Toyota Corolla Cross is available in two versions, each with two finishes. The 140 HP version is offered in Style finish, while the nearly 200 HP version is also available in Style Plus finish.

The base version of the Corolla Cross comes standard with the new 12.3-inch digital instrumentation as well as the largest multimedia screen available in the Corolla lineup, measuring 10.5 inches. The infotainment system on offer is also the most advanced, the Toyota Smart Connect, which offers internet connection, a virtual assistant and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay (for Android Auto, a wired connection is still required).

The prices shown do not include any discounts and Toyota currently does not offer any promotions. However, if you choose financing, this assumes a fee of 350 euros, plus interest. The monthly amount for the cheapest option is 250 euros, while the most complete is 300 euros.
